Homemade Deodorant Gippsland Unwrapped
Patchouli is used for natural deodorant because its strong scent effectively masks odors. Now that you know how to make homemade deodorant go and make yourself a batch, and keep your pits stink free without all those extra chemicals. The starch and baking soda help absorb sweat and the shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E oil help to moisturize your skin. Coconut oil has some nice antimicrobial properties that help shelf life and curb odor, but if you know your skin doesn`t like it, you could try jojoba oil instead — which mimics human sebum. The problem with bentonite clay is it turns dark gray when wet and all the arm pits of my shirts turned black :-(. That is probably the best solution if you`re hoping to use it in a deodorant stick container. Even if your natural deodorant is made up of all essential oils, alcohol could be lurking in the ingredients.
Even in temperate climates, a warm car will cause the coconut oil to liquefy and you`ve got a mess in your toiletries kit. I`m pretty tired of smelling like a health food store from using all natural deodorants, and don`t want to use deodorant with aluminum. It should be about the same texture as commercial deodorant: solid but able to be applied easily.
Note: The first recipe below is the new more stable version with beeswax added, and the second recipe is the original. I can`t be sure of course, but adding an essential oil like lavender, jasmine, or tea tree oil would be a good start for experimenting! The stick looks convenient, but you wouldn`t be able to dampen the soda and get rid of the grit because of the oil. Single-ingredient products, such as coconut oil, Shea butter or various clays, are superb products. All I do is squeeze the juice out of a lemon, strain it, and put it in a spray bottle.
I`ve been traveling a lot over the last two months so I haven`t had time to make another batch of homemade deodorant. I like to use it in deodorant because it helps it go on smoother , and prevents the deodorant from turning to liquid (due to melting coconut oil) in the heat. I sometimes added a few drops of an essential oil like tea tree oil to help with its antibacterial qualities.
If you are sensitive to baking soda, I believe arrowroot or corn starch would work just fine, though I have not tried that. How to Make Homemade Deodorant\" was generously contributed by Monica Ford of Real Food Devotee Monica`s delicious recipes will make your mouth water and your tummy purr. Mix a spoonful of baking soda with some warm water and spray in some vanilla or lavender essential oils to sweeten the scent. Because regular old Arm and Hammer baking soda contains aluminum (my main reason for making my own deoderant) I use either aluminum free baking soda bought through Azure Standard or I have also used Arrowroot powder with wonderful results! Plain coconut oil rubbed in the armpit area - use sparingly and let sit a bit before getting dressed to give the oil a chance to absorb and reduce the chance of staining. Even in an air conditioned house, the deodorant stick with beeswax is too soft.
Until last Christmas, when someone gave me some sort of spa kit that included vanilla deodorant which I had no intention of using - but wound up doing so when I ran out of Secret unexpectedly. Transfer the deodorant into the refrigerator and just only take it out when you are using it and keep it in the fridge so it will stay solid. I feel fairly confident I won`t, after reading so many other first-hand successful stories about this deodorant. I wanted to point out in case others are trying different recipes that sometimes Shea Butter can be an irritant as well. I haven`t actually made this recipe yet, but I would do beeswax to make it harder.
